After a week in Skiathos, these were the places we’d happily return to. Whether you’re looking for beachfront lunches, romantic dinners or authentic Italian, here’s our guide.
🌊 Swell Beach Bar – Megali Ammos
If you’re spending the day on Megali Ammos, don’t miss Swell. It’s the perfect beachfront spot for lunch with uninterrupted sea views.
We shared a huge calzone with a side of loaded fries and an ice-cold beer, and everything was delicious. It’s the ideal place to refuel before heading back to the beach.
🌿 Marmita – Skiathos Town
Marmita is one of Skiathos’ most well-known restaurants, tucked away in a beautiful courtyard filled with olive trees and fairy lights.
We started with the steamed mussels, cooked in a fragrant white wine and herb sauce, before enjoying a fresh tomato pasta. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavour, and the peaceful setting made it one of the most memorable meals of our trip.
🍝 De Bone – Skiathos Town
If you’re craving authentic Italian and grilled dishes, De Bone is a must.
I ordered the Black Angus Beef Spaghetti Bolognese, while Leon chose the Baby Chicken, marinated with herbs. He genuinely said it was the best chicken he’s ever had—the skin was unbelievably crispy while the meat stayed so juicy. The food tasted homemade, the portions were generous and the staff were fantastic. We’d happily eat here again.
🏨 Skiathos Avaton Bistro – Megali Ammos
Even if you’re not staying at Skiathos Avaton, their bistro is open to everyone and is well worth visiting.
During our stay we enjoyed:
- 🍕 Pizza
- 🍝 Spaghetti Bolognese
- 🥗 Greek Salad
- 🍔 Cheese-filled beef burger
- 🥩 Beef with mashed potato
Everything we ordered was fresh, generous and beautifully cooked. We ended up eating here several times because the food was consistently so good.
They also host fantastic Greek Nights, which are open to non-guests too, with traditional Greek food, music and dancing. The manager and every member of staff made us feel so welcome throughout our stay—they really made our honeymoon extra special.
⛵ Bourtzi – Skiathos Town
Set amongst the pine trees between Skiathos’ old and new ports, Bourtzi is one of the most beautiful places on the island to enjoy lunch, dinner or cocktails.
We ordered the Chorizo Pinsa, topped with San Marzano tomatoes, mozzarella and spicy honey, and it was genuinely one of the best pizzas we’ve ever eaten. The sweet honey with the spicy chorizo worked perfectly, and it’s a dish we’d return to Skiathos just to have again. Even if you’re only stopping for a drink, the harbour views alone make it worth visiting.
🌅 The Windmill – Skiathos Town
The Windmill was one of the highlights of our honeymoon.
The panoramic views over Skiathos Town at sunset are breathtaking, and the food was just as impressive. We had steak, lasagne, dauphinoise potatoes and children’s tomato pasta, and every dish was cooked perfectly.
Combined with the attentive service and unforgettable setting, it’s a restaurant we’d recommend to anyone visiting Skiathos.
