These are the family attractions we come back to time and time again. As a family with children of different ages, we love places that have something for everyone from toddlers to teenagers. Here are some of our absolute favourites.
🌿 Plantasia Tropical Zoo (Swansea)
One of the best things about Plantasia is that it’s right on our doorstep in Swansea, making it perfect for a spontaneous day out. They regularly host themed events throughout the year too. We recently visited their dinosaur event where the children got to meet life-sized dinosaurs and have photos with them, which they absolutely loved.
Why we love it: Great all year round, especially when the weather isn’t on your side.
🐷 Folly Farm Adventure Park & Zoo
Folly Farm is one of our favourite family attractions in Wales. There’s so much to do that you can easily spend the entire day there, from meeting the animals to enjoying the vintage fairground and huge play areas.
They’ve also recently opened their own campsite and incredible animal-themed lodges, which are now firmly on our family bucket list!
Why we love it: A full day of fun with something for every age.
🦖 The Dinosaur Park, Tenby
This is a must-visit if you have dinosaur lovers in your family. One of the biggest reasons we love it is that once you’ve paid your admission, almost everything is included. There aren’t constant extra charges for rides and activities, so the children can just enjoy themselves without you reaching for your wallet every few minutes.
Why we love it: Fantastic value for money.
🌊 Mumbles Pier
A family favourite whatever the season. Alongside the arcades and beautiful coastal views, don’t miss the Upside Down House it’s brilliant for funny family photos and always goes down well with the kids.
Why we love it: A classic Swansea day out with something a little different.
🚜 Wiggly’s Fun Farm
Our children absolutely love visiting Wiggly’s, especially the indoor Wiggle Car track. It’s one of the first places they head to every visit and keeps them entertained for ages.
Why we love it: Perfect for younger children whatever the weather.
🏰 Fonmon Castle
Fonmon Castle has quickly become one of our favourite places to visit because there’s always something happening. We’ve visited during their Halloween Jump Scare event, and it was honestly one of the best Halloween attractions we’ve experienced with equal parts amazing and terrifying!
Their seasonal events make every visit feel different.
Why we love it: Brilliant themed events throughout the year.
🐑 Cefn Mably Farm Park
Cefn Mably is always a lovely day out, but our favourite part has to be the little train ride. It’s something the children look forward to every single visit.
Why we love it: Farm animals, play areas and the train!
🎯 Heatherton World of Activities
One thing we really appreciate about Heatherton is that it genuinely caters for all ages. Visiting with both a toddler and a teenager isn’t always easy, but Heatherton has activities that keep everyone entertained, making it one of the easiest family days out to enjoy together.
Why we love it: Perfect for families with children of different ages.
🦘 Manor Wildlife Park
One of the highlights of Manor Wildlife Park has to be the walk-through wallaby enclosure. Getting so close to the animals makes the whole experience feel really special, especially for younger children.
Why we love it: Unique animal encounters you don’t get everywhere.
🌳 Margam Country Park
Margam is somewhere we visit again and again because there’s always something happening during the school holidays. Whether it’s seasonal trails, family events or simply exploring the park, no two visits ever feel quite the same.
Why we love it: Fantastic value and brilliant half-term events.
🚂 Pembrey Country Park
Pembrey has become one of our Easter traditions. We usually spend the whole Easter holidays staying on the campsite and absolutely love it. Between the beach, woodland walks, playgrounds, miniature railway and toboggan run, there’s enough to keep the whole family busy for days.
Why we love it: The perfect place for a family camping holiday in South Wales.
These are just some of our favourite family days out in South Wales, and we’re always adding new places to our list. As we visit more attractions, I’ll be sharing full reviews with our honest thoughts, tips and everything you need to know before you go.
