Splash Landings Waterpark: Our Honest Family Review

During our stay at Alton Towers Resort, we spent an afternoon at Splash Landings Waterpark with my daughters, Lilly-Mae (9) and Aria (18 months).

With such a big age gap between them, I’m always a little unsure whether attractions will keep both girls happy, but Splash Landings was a huge hit with them both.

First Impressions

From the moment we walked in, the waterpark felt warm, bright and welcoming. The tropical theme made it feel like we’d escaped abroad for a few hours rather than being in the middle of the UK.

One thing I noticed straight away was how much there was for younger children. Sometimes toddler areas can feel a bit forgotten about, but that definitely wasn’t the case here.

Perfect for Different Ages

At 18 months old, Aria was in her element. She loved splashing in the shallow water, exploring the interactive features and watching all the excitement around her. There were plenty of areas where she could safely play without me feeling like I had to hover over her every second.

At the same time, Lilly-Mae had plenty to keep her entertained too. The bigger slides and attractions meant she never felt like she was spending the afternoon in a toddler pool.

It was lovely watching both girls enjoy the waterpark in completely different ways.

Our Favourite Part

Without a doubt, our favourite part was the lazy river.

It was one of the few attractions that all three of us could enjoy together, and we spent plenty of time floating around as a family. Watching Aria take everything in while Lilly-Mae laughed and splashed alongside us created some of my favourite memories from the trip.

One thing I really liked about Splash Landings was how easy it was to spend several hours there without needing to leave. There were tables and chairs around the pool area for when we wanted a break, and food and drinks were available to buy inside the waterpark itself.

As a parent of a toddler, having somewhere to sit down, grab a drink and recharge before heading back into the water was a huge bonus.

Sometimes it’s not the biggest slides or the most thrilling rides that make a day special. For us, it was those simple moments spent together floating around the lazy river.

Was It Worth It?

Absolutely.

Splash Landings ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. After a busy day walking around the theme park, it was nice to slow things down and spend some quality time together before the drive home.

If you’re visiting Alton Towers with younger children, I’d definitely recommend adding Splash Landings to your plans. Whether you have a toddler, older children or a mixture of both, there’s something for everyone.
